About Us:
We are building Third, a Community Interest Company (CIC), developing a free-to-use safety and support app designed for women in the UK who are experiencing or at risk of domestic and sexual violence. Our mission is to empower survivors with tools to log incidents securely, ask questions through a chatbot grounded in UK law, and connect with trusted resources - all while protecting their privacy and safety.
We’re now looking for a Tech Lead to join us at this early stage and help take the app from finalised UX designs through to launch in the App Store. This is a unique opportunity to shape both the technology and the impact of a product that will support women when they need it most.
What you'll do:
- Lead the end-to-end build of the app: from architecture to deployment
- Translate our finalised UX/UI designs into a secure, scalable mobile app
- Make key technical decisions (stack, hosting, infrastructure)
- Implement core features, including:
- Secure incident logging
- AI powered chatbot (integrating UK law and safeguarding resources)
- User authentication and data protection
- Build with privacy, encryption, and safety by design at the core
- Oversee app deployment and maintenance for App Store/Google Play
- Mentor and collaborate with a mid-level/junior engineer (to be hired)
- Work closely with the founder and advisory board to balance product vision with technical feasibility
- Use LLMs to build a chatbot that stays up to date with relevant UK law and safeguarding guidance
What we're looking for:
- 5+ years’ experience in mobile app development (React Native, Flutter, or native iOS/Android)
- Strong experience deploying secure cloud backends
- Experience taking apps from ideation to launch
- Familiarity with AI integration
- Strong grasp of data security, encryption, and GDPR compliance
